Image Cropper
Freeform or preset cropping with rotation, guides, and instant export.
Sometimes you don’t need a full photo editor — you just need to crop an image properly and save it in the right format.
This online crop tool is built for that exact job. Upload a photo, choose a crop ratio (or set your own), fine-tune the framing, then export your result as JPG, PNG, or WEBP.
It’s quick when you want it quick, and precise when details matter.
Crop With Ready-Made Ratios (So You Don’t Have to Guess)
A lot of cropping tools leave you stuck guessing what size to use for an avatar, a post, or a thumbnail.
Here, you can start with common ratios that match real layouts, then adjust the crop area until the image looks right.
Available crop ratios:
Free crop
Original
1:1
4:5
3:2
16:9
9:16
Custom
If you need something specific, Custom Ratio lets you type your exact values — useful when you're working with platform requirements or a design system.
Rotate, Flip, Zoom — Then Adjust the Crop Exactly Where You Want It
Getting a crop right usually comes down to small changes. A slight zoom, a tiny shift, or a quick rotation can fix the whole image.
This crop tool includes the controls people actually use:
Rotate left or right (90°)
Flip horizontally or vertically
Zoom between 50% and 200%
Quick actions to fit the image or return to 100% zoom
For extra precision, you can also position the crop area using your keyboard:
Arrow keys move the crop selection
Shift + Arrow keys move faster (bigger steps)
You’ll also see a live size label updating while you drag or resize, so you always know what dimensions you’re exporting.
Composition Guides (If You Want Better Framing)
Cropping isn’t just about cutting off edges — it’s often about framing a face properly, centering a product, or balancing space.
You can turn on optional guides like:
Rule of thirds
Grid overlay
Circular preview (useful for profile photos)
These guides are there when you want them, and out of the way when you don’t.
Stable Export Limits (So Outputs Don’t Break)
To keep exports reliable, the cropper sticks to practical boundaries:
Minimum crop size: 32 px
Maximum output size: capped before extreme 8K+ results
That means you won’t accidentally export something unusable, or end up with massive dimensions that slow things down or fail to download.
Export as JPG, PNG, or WEBP
Once your crop looks right, export it in the format that fits the next step:
JPG: includes a background fill + quality control, so transparent areas don’t export with odd black sections
PNG: keeps sharp edges and supports transparency
WEBP: modern compression for smaller files (great for web use)
You can also rename the file before saving it.
If your browser supports it, you can copy the cropped image directly to your clipboard and paste it into chats, docs, or design tools.
Your Image Isn’t Stored or Reused
This tool is built to crop your image — not collect it.
Uploads aren’t used for ads, tracking, or anything unrelated to the crop you requested. You upload, export, and you’re done.
Crop as Many Times as You Need
You can keep adjusting and exporting until it looks right.
Try different ratios, test alternate framing, and download multiple versions if you want options. There are no forced limits that stop you mid-task.
Got Questions?
We've got answers
1. Can I crop GIF files here?
Yes, you can upload a GIF. Just keep in mind the export is a still image, based on the frame shown while editing.
2. What crop ratio works best for profile pictures?
For most profile photos, 1:1 is the safest pick. If your platform displays avatars in a circle, turn on the circle preview guide and crop within that area.
3. Why does JPG export add a background fill?
Because JPG doesn’t support transparency. The background fill prevents transparent areas from exporting with unexpected dark or black blocks.
4. Can I crop to an exact pixel size?
You can’t type pixel width and height directly, but you can crop very accurately using the live dimension feedback and keyboard nudging. It works well when you’re trying to hit a specific output size.
5. How do the keyboard controls work?
Use your arrow keys to move the crop area. Hold Shift while pressing arrows to move faster.
6. Can I copy the cropped image to my clipboard?
Yes. The tool supports copy to clipboard in compatible browsers. If clipboard copying isn’t supported, it will fall back to an alternative method where possible.
