Got questions?
Quick answers to the most common things people ask about PNG Pal.
01 What tools does PNG Pal offer?
PNG Pal is a focused set of browser-based image utilities: a compressor for JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and AVIF; a resizer that works by pixel dimensions or percentage; converters between JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and SVG; a crop tool with free or fixed aspect ratios (1:1, 4:3, 16:9); a rotator with flip; a photo editor with filters, text, and stickers; and an AI upscaler that enlarges images 2×, 3×, or 4× using Real-ESRGAN or Lanczos3 resampling.
02 Do I need an account to use the tools?
No. Every tool on PNG Pal works anonymously — no account, no email, no throttling of unauthenticated users. We do not gate features behind sign-up walls. Accounts may appear in the future for optional preset-saving, but the core functionality will always be free and available without one.
03 How is my data handled?
Resize, crop, rotate, format conversion, and photo-editor tools run entirely in your browser — those files never leave your device. The compressor, HTML-to-image capture, and AI upscaler run on our server because they need more computation. Server-side uploads are kept only as long as processing requires (typically a few seconds to a minute) and are deleted automatically afterward. We do not log image content, share files with third parties, or train any models on your data.
04 Can I use the tools on mobile?
Yes. PNG Pal is fully responsive and is tested on iOS Safari, Chrome on Android, and the major desktop browsers. Upload, processing, and download all work from a phone. The photo editor and cropper specifically use touch-friendly gestures so you can pinch to zoom, drag to crop, and tap to select.
05 What image formats are supported?
Input: JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF (compressor), and SVG (converters). Output: the compressor keeps the original format with adjustable quality; converters output JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF; the upscaler keeps the same format it was given. Transparency is preserved whenever the target format supports it (PNG and WebP).
06 Is there a file size or batch limit?
Browser-side tools accept up to 10 images per batch with a 15 MB per-file limit. The server-side compressor, upscaler, and HTML-to-image accept one image at a time with a 30 MB limit. These limits keep the site fast for everyone. If you need higher limits for a specific project, reach out via the contact form.
07 Will the compressor make my image look worse?
Compression quality is adjustable. At the default 70–80% quality setting, output images are visually indistinguishable from the original in most cases, while file size drops by 50–80%. Lower settings (below 50%) can introduce visible artifacts around sharp edges and text, so the slider lets you balance file size against quality for each use case.
08 Can I use PNG Pal for commercial work?
Yes. Images processed through PNG Pal belong entirely to you. There is no commercial-use restriction, no watermark on outputs, and no licensing obligation of any kind. The Real-ESRGAN model used by the AI upscaler is MIT-licensed, so upscaled outputs carry no attribution requirement.
09 Why is my upscaled image taking a long time?
AI upscaling is computationally expensive — a 2000×2000 px image at 4× upscale has to produce 64 million pixels of new detail. On CPU-only servers a single upscale can take 30–120 seconds depending on image size and scale factor. The progress bar reflects real processing, not a fake loader. If you need faster turnaround for a batch, Lanczos3 mode is much quicker than Real-ESRGAN while still producing sharper output than naive resize.
10 How can I request a new feature or tool?
Use the contact form — we read every submission and triage them weekly. We ship new tools when they solve a real problem users describe, not on a calendar. Include the specific task you are trying to do (not just the tool name), the image formats involved, and whether you want a browser-side or server-side solution.
